I just tested DAAP and it actually works as advertized. I opened itunes on my comp, opened the mDNSResponder in nokia 770, opened rythmbox in nokia and voila, I was able to see all my itunes music in nokia and play them directly from my nokia. Splendid.

Also, in preferences, you can also share music from nokia to itunes. Now, is this cool or what?

Let me first say that Matchbox should be part of the Maemo software by default! Great work on the conversion, Renato!

Here are some suggestions:

1. Can the mDNSResponder be part of the menu or preferneces so non techinical people can run it directly with out using Xterm?

2. I noticed that it can only stream and play MP3 files from iTunes. Is there a way to play AAC (protected and unprotected), WAV, etc.? If not, maybe it's best not to display unsupported files at all.

3. When adding a podcast feed, it downloads the first entry in the feed automatically and cannot be stopped. Any way not to download automatically so as to let the user select which podcast to play?

4. Also, it seems like the added Podcast feed (URL) are not stored. When you exit Rhythmbox and you run it again, all the feeds are gone.

Again, good work on the port! Hope to see a new release soon.

Thanks!

The music browser is iTunes like... heehhah, you can add a album-cover view? The ID3 v2 tag support an embed JPEG in the MP3 file.

Excellent work, but Rhythmbox dies for me as soon as it tries to play audio, regardless of the source. Am I missing something...?

A "add custom DAAP source" item would be useful. This would let you add, by name or IP, a remote DAAP source, without using mDNSResponder. Makes it work over the internet, too.

Im not sure if it's the ne RhythmBox version of the new 770 Software Update. As soon as you play a song from a remote computer, the application exits. Any idea what's causing it?

Hi,
I apologize in advance for asking a stupid question, but is there any place to find some instructions for installing the app on my 770? I've been programming for 20+ years, but have very little experience w/ unix/linux (other than thinking the slashes went the wrong way).

Any help in getting me up and running (and more literate in linux) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm using Rhythmbox 0.9.2 wth a mt-daap server on Linux. The server works well with iTunes apps but cant be seen by Rhythmbox. Yes, I started mDNSResponder but still cant see the library on the network. Rhythmbox can play MP3s that I put on the Nokia just fine. Any ideas?
